The Lone Star Coastal Alliance is a grassroots coalition of private, public and civic organizations including cities, counties, businesses and community-based conservation organizations across the proposed four county area (Jefferson, Galveston and Matagorda) who support the creation of the Lone Star Coastal national recreation area along the Upper Texas coast.
The purpose of the Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area is to establish the Upper Texas Gulf Coast among the diverse recreational offerings based on the region’s significant environmental and cultural attractions. This effort will attract outdoor recreation enthusiasts, leverage traditional tourism markets and build viable industries for rural communities on the highly dynamic Southern coastline.
