The Lone Star Coastal Alliance is a grassroots coalition of private, public and civic organizations including cities, counties, businesses and community-based conservation organizations across a five county area (Jefferson, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria and Matagorda) who support the creation of the Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area along the Upper Texas coast.

The purpose of the Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area is to establish the Upper Texas Gulf Coast among the diverse recreational offerings based on the region’s significant environmental and cultural attractions. This effort will attract outdoor recreation enthusiasts and heritage travelers, leverage traditional tourism markets and build viable industries for rural communities on the highly dynamic coastline.

National Recreation Areas are collaboratively managed lands around reservoirs and water bodies that offer visitors a chance to experience outdoor recreation – from swimming and kayaking to fishing, hunting and mountain biking, and much more.  National recreation areas also often include important natural and cultural features worthy of national recognition.
